Catherine de Medici's bedroom, Chenonceau Renaissance chimney and floor tiles Bedroom of Catherine de Medici. This bedroom contains 16th-century sculpted furniture and is decorated with a series of 16th-century Flemish tapestries retracing Samson's life.

Flemish furniture was popular in 17th century. The wood that was common through this time period, with this style was oak. One of the main features of this furniture was the elaborate carving. The furniture was often heavy looking. The so-called Flemish scroll, an S or C curved ornamental form in which a scroll is broken by an angle, was prominent. The flemish foot also was marked by a scroll-like ending to an S or C curved leg.

The living area of the main barn includes a 17th-century verdure tapestry, 19th-century wing chairs, and an antique bench from Provence; the leather sofa is Italian, and the plaster sculpture was found at a Paris flea market.

In the dining area, a circa-1910 fireplace surround, chairs from Provence, and a '20s mirror; the prints are by Piranesi, the flooring was originally beams in a Civil War hospital in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and the walls are painted in Benjamin Moore's Sag Harbor Gray.- See More At Elle Decor
