Primitive Decorating Ideas- Kay Douglass via Atlanta Homes Magazines Featured on Twelve Chairs Boston Blog
Sometimes when we think of Primitive styled decorating, we think of a house filled with nothing than antiques with no modern elements. Atlanta Homes Magazines featured designer Kay Douglass Georgia who designed a lake house which included rustic white painted walls, and layered it with colors such as raspberry, plum and pomegranate. Not only did the house look primitive, but it also had so many colorful modern elements. What made her design so successful is the furniture mostly had a primitive feel with modern upholstery colors. The house was based on white paint colors and white slip covers which really brought out a fresh crisp look. Of the entire home, in my opinion the white painted walls really was the best feature.
Here she worked with Primitive Architecture, and layered in neutral wing chairs, and sofas and added modern touches through throw pillows. The rustic wood doors and additional lighting gives this home a primitive touch. Again, like the picture above, she utilizes wood walls and wood flooring to get that primitive edge.
