Country Living featured designer Alexandra Champalimaud as she transformed her own Revolutionary-era house in Litchfield, Connecticut. This room is beyond beautiful. Instead of painting an entire room red, why not paint just the architectural features. Installing wainscoting in a room and using white can really balance the boldness that red often brings. An all red room can be a bit overwhelming. My husband loves red, but after painting our entire kitchen red, it felt like a cave. Consider adding red furniture and painting some of the details of the room, than the whole room. As you can see in this picture the painting on the wall has some red hues inside the painting which brings together the walls. The furniture is an off white, and the painted black furniture really stands out as being very special. The brick and rugs really bring that primitive element into this room. This has got to be one of my favorite rooms.
